Municipal Grounds Maintenance · Central Sweden
A municipal grounds contractor cut lakeside park slopes up to 38° with one operator, keeping seven parks on a fixed mowing schedule.
The contractor maintains slopes, banks and shore lines in public parks where visitors are present and the ground is uneven. Slopes above 30° were cut with brush cutters and rope assistance, which was slow, weather-dependent and increasingly hard to staff.
Operational challenges included:
Staff exposure: operators standing on wet grass slopes above water
Scheduling pressure: every park had to be cut within its maintenance window
Terrain limits: granite outcrops and uneven banks stopped ride-on equipment
Seasonal peaks: growth in midsummer outpaced the manual crews
The contractor needed a way to cut the whole slope inventory on a fixed schedule without sending staff onto the steepest banks.
The contractor introduced one RCVIX T800 tracked remote control mower on a six-week trial across the slope sections of seven parks.
Implementation details:
Operators trained on remote control operation and slope navigation
Cutting performed from the crest of each bank with line-of-sight control
Slope sections rotated into the weekly schedule alongside flat-area mowing
Electric start and low noise kept morning work acceptable near housing
After the trial season the unit was added to the regular maintenance rotation and a framework agreement was signed for the following year.
Estimated 50%–70% less time per slope section compared with manual trimming
No staff required to stand on wet slopes above water
All seven parks kept on their scheduled cutting windows through the season
Consistent grass height across banks previously cut irregularly
Crew time reallocated from slope trimming to general grounds work
Following the evaluation, the contractor added a second unit for parks on the other side of the district.
The banks are cut every week now, and nobody has to walk the slope with a trimmer. After the first adjustment period the schedule simply held. — Operations Manager, Municipal Parks Contractor
A municipal grounds contractor in central Sweden was responsible for slope maintenance across seven public parks, including lakeside banks with slopes reaching 38°. Manual trimming on those banks was slow, weather-dependent and difficult to staff.
The contractor deployed one RCVIX T800 tracked remote control mower on a six-week trial. Operators cut the banks from the crest with the machine on the slope, keeping every park inside its scheduled maintenance window. After the trial, the unit entered the regular rotation and the cooperation continued under a framework agreement.
